In 2017 our club was unable to field both the U15 and U17 Colts teams which was a big disappointment to our club, supporters, and parents and of course those players who wanted to play for us. In 2018 the HFL decided to change the age group for the Junior teams from a 3 team (U13, U15, U17) competition to a 4 team (U12, U14, U16 and U18) competition. We have worked hard to get all 4 teams playing in 2018 however in the end we found we just did not have enough players for our U16 side so unfortunately we will not be fielding an U16, Junior Colts team in 2018.

Senior Colts (U18’s) - Our Seniors Colts team has been putting in a good preseason and they are ably coached by Gary Campbell who had a break from the club in 2017.

Mini Colts (U14’s) - This team is made up of a lot of the boys who played in the U13’s team in 2017 who got into the semi-finals but were unable to make it to the Grand Final. They are coached by Scott Matheson who has been involved with the junior program. We are hoping for big things from them this season.

U12’s - This is a new team to the HFL competition and it looks like these boys will be playing on Friday nights following the Moddies games. Their coach is Rob Keen who has also been involved in the Moddies program in previous years.

Moddies - The 2 Moddies (Modified Rules) teams in 2018 will be an U10 and U8 sides. Andrew O’Keefe, as our Junior Football Director, is in charge of the Moddies competition and the coaches will be appointed by the end of April as the competition starts in May.

In 2017 we broke the drought of having an Auskick program by agreeing to run the Auskick program at the Coromandel Valley Primary School. This was a very successful program and we finished the program by having the kids play a Trial game at our home game against Birdwood during the halftime break for the A's.  The kids loved it and in 2018 we will be continuing the Auskick program at Coro but will also run the Hawthorndene Primary School program. A successful Auskick program is essential for the long term viability of the club.
